In this setup both the TX and RX share a single pair of wires, therefore it is limited to half-duplex data transmission as the data cannot be transmitted simultaneously to and fro each device. In RS485 standard, data is transmitted via two wires twisted together also referred to as "Twisted Pair Cable". The design of RS485 is targeted towards it being tolerant and forgiving to noise and long cable runs with the twisted pair cable arrangement. The network was rock solid, besides one port that was somehow toasted on the brand new Cisco switch (my guess is somehow the cable got a charge in it and fried the port). SenseCAP S2100 data logger can collect data from multiple sensors and transfer the data through the LoRaWAN network. However, Arduino and Raspberry Pi hobbyists also use it for some of their projects when multiple peripherals need to be linked to the board. In hindsight, the issues we ran into on the software side pale in comparison to hardware problems. On set, I was pleased to see-after a few small tweaks-the UI I had designed was easy enough for the producers and the production techs who were debugging LED issues to pick up immediately. Outside a few glaring bugs like never testing more than 10 rounds of voting, and relying on a function that determined the round based on the first character of a string-the software was fairly robust. Unshielded Cat 5 caused a few issues for LEDs, but it was a nightmare for the buttons. Using better cables, connections, and LED tape, we would've avoided those issues entirely. With most software projects, you design for an MVP target, then scale up using live performance data as the guide.
