This is the moment Coast Guard intercepted a boat carrying 20 illegal migrants off the coast of Southern California.

Footage shared by the United States Coast Guard for San Diego on social media shows how Cutter Haddock crew members caught the 30-foot panga-style vessel 21 miles off Point Loma, San Diego.

It comes as Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) said yesterday that more than 1,800 migrants without criminal convictions or pending criminal charges against them have been detained in the first two weeks of February, as President Donald Trump clamps down on illegal migration.

In the clip, Coast Guard can be seen zooming through the waters in a speed boat as they chase the group of undocumented immigrants.

The chase comes to a halt when Coast Guard catch up to the foreigners, said to be from Mexico and China.

When the migrant vessel stops, a member of the Coast Guard is heard shouting 'manos arriba', which is Spanish for 'hands in the air'.

The migrants onboard the boat are then seen raising their arms, as officers shine massive torch lights on them.

The video was filmed on Tuesday, after the vessel carrying illegal migrants was spotted by a US Customs and Border Protection Air and Marine operations patrol aircraft, which notified the Coast Guard, an official statement said.

'Watchstanders then diverted the Coast Guard Cutter Haddock which launched their small boat crew', the USCG press release added.

All 20 adults onboard the vessel were taken into custody. 17 of the group were male and the remaining three were female.

The Coast Guard then brought the migrants to Sector San Diego and transferred them to Imperial Beach Border Patrol Station personnel.

And it also comes as Trump made his strongest move against illegal immigration yesterday, after he signed an executive order that stops taxpayer money from going to undocumented migrants.

The White House fact sheet stated that Trump is 'committed to safeguarding Federal public benefits for American citizens who are truly in need, including individuals with disabilities and veterans.'

On the border, Trump is demanding 'corrective action' to stop 'all taxpayer-funded benefits for illegal aliens,' according to the order.

Currently, children are entitled to a free K-12 public education regardless of immigration status under a 1982 Supreme Court ruling.

Trump also took note of a 1996 law overhauling welfare benefits that denies most illegal migrants public benefits that says 'over the last four years, the prior administration repeatedly undercut' it.

Trump plans to send an extra 10,000 troops to Mexico border as he ramps up illegal migrant crackdown

He claims the Biden administration's border crisis resulted 'in the improper expenditure of significant taxpayer resources.'

The president appears to be taking action against his predecessors use of parole to allow people into America on a temporary basis, including the controversial CBP One app used at the Mexican border that allowed 900,000 migrants in.

More than 500,000 Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans and Venezuelans who flew to the US at their own expense with a financial sponsor took advantage of the program. Trump immediately ended both programs.

The order also includes a mandate to improve benefit eligibility verification to make sure benefits are not going to immigrants in the US illegally.

Trump's order appears to have other targets, some already subjects of earlier edicts and Justice Department lawsuits.

Trump signed 10 executive orders on immigration on his first day in office.

They included ending automatic citizenship for people born in the United States and asylum at the southern border.

The birthright citizenship order has been temporarily halted in court.

Among his efforts taken on immigration, the president has also allowed the military to act as immigration and border enforcement officials and reprioritized the building of the border wall.
