We also conducted in-depth interviews with 20 men who have read these books, seeking to understand their experiences, perceptions, and outcomes. The participants were aged between 25 and 50, with varying relationship statuses, including single, married, and divorced.

Findings

The study revealed several key findings. Firstly, the majority of participants reported that reading relationship self-help books helped them develop a better understanding of themselves and their emotions, allowing them to communicate more effectively with their partners. One participant noted, "I used to think I was a good listener, but after reading 'The Art of Loving', I realized I was just pretending to listen. Now, I'm more present in my conversations, and my partner feels heard and understood." This is consistent with research on emotional intelligence, which suggests that self-awareness and empathy are essential components of successful relationships (Goleman, 1995).

Secondly, participants reported a significant decrease in conflict and an increase in intimacy with their partners. A participant shared, "I was on the verge of a breakup, but after reading 'Men Are from Mars, Women Are from Venus', I learned how to understand my partner's needs and communicate my own. We're now stronger than ever." This is in line with attachment theory, which emphasizes the importance of emotional connection and responsiveness in romantic relationships (Bowlby, 1969).

It's helped me build a deeper connection with my partner and improved our overall relationship."
